Job Description

Hybrid Environment (On-site Tuesday-Thursday, Remote on Monday and Friday)

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

(65%) Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and supplemental reports for certain supply chain center business units

  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and ensure completeness of the general ledger accounting data for certain supply chain centers
  • Record period end accounting entries (e.g. accruals, adjustments, etc.)
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and certifications
  • Monitor account activity and notify management of unusual account activity, especially within key reserve accounts
  • Review P&L statements and identify the key drivers of variances to budget, prior year, and flash forecasting estimates
  • Coordinate with other accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, financial reporting, fixed assets, payroll, and tax to ensure that the general ledger is accurately stated
  • Maintain appropriate internal controls and adhere to Company policy and procedures.  Ensure there are no significant deficiencies or material weaknesses, as defined by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002
  • Provide internal customers with general ledgers, P&Ls, and financial summaries upon close of the financial period
  • Communicate with internal customers on outstanding accounting issues, problems, or concerns
  • Be a subject matter expert and act as a resource to internal customers on financial statements and the General Ledger

(25%) Analysis and Reconciliation for Major Supply Chain Accruals including:

  • Prepare periodic analysis for the SCC Transportation Accrual from multiple suppliers.  Assist GL accountants with questions. Be able to explain fluctuation in expense and accrual for management reporting and to ensure accuracy in analysis used for accruals. Research anomalies in the expected vs actual expense
  • Prepare periodic Accrued Payable reconciliation and journal entry for Supply Chain. Work with the GL team to investigate and resolve open issues.
  • Prepare over 21 day accrual report and work with GL and AP teams to resolve long standing accruals
  • Responsible for investigating flux when necessary for balance sheet reviews
  • Complete analysis and accruals for Supply Chain including:
  • Supply Chain Driver’s Bonus
  • Vacation accrual for Supply Chain Centers that pay out unused vacation hours
  • Other consolidated accruals allocated to the SCCs
  • Profit Sharing Support – Partner with accountant II to ensure accruals and processing of rebates is timely and accurate

(10%) Special projects as needed

  • Assist internal customers with analysis of financial impact on certain projects
  • Assist financial reporting with the review of quarterly and annual financial reports
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests
  • Assist in testing system upgrades or newly implemented systems
  • Provide training and development support to other general ledger accountants
  • Other ad-hoc projects as deemed necessary

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of accounting experience preferred
  • Ability to analyze financial information
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills
  • Self-Motivated and able to work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and database applications
  • PeopleSoft Financials, HFM and Blackline experience a plus
