Job Details

The Program Leader - Store Food Safety Continuous Improvement & Innovation is responsible for leading the improvement of the store safety program of all food served to guests. This position ensures ongoing compliance with global regulatory affairs, quality assurance and store food safety requirements.

Continuous improvement of the global store food safety system
•    Proactively works to ensure all food safety compliance platforms are driving improvement in the system
•    Pro-active measures are taken on regulatory issues involving food safety, quality and sanitation at the store working collaboratively with key partners. 
•    Proactively identifies non-compliances on the part of international franchise partners and store to ensure corrective actions are effective and best practices are shared. 
•    Trains and supports franchise partners to drive continuous improvements in food safety and handling procedures to minimize risk and improve quality.

Innovation
•    Partners with franchisees to proactively mitigate critical food safety failures globally, ensuring continued resolution of key compliance trends through innovation. 
•    Work with global and/or regional companies to provide support when needed on new and/or innovative solutions to drive the corporate objectives
•    Analyze the results of the various types of quality assurance audits and health inspections to identify key trends & develop potential solutions in key risk areas.
•    Develop collaborative and influential working relationships with government and industry, i.e., FDA traceability initiatives, FDA public hearings on FSMA, and GFSI.

 

Leads projects with Store Food Safety Team
•    Lead projects with internal team regarding store food safety, innovation and continuous improvement.
•    Act as a liaison between quality assurance team members and other inter-departmental groups to drive continuous improvement
•    Partner with team members to develop key standards and/or changes to drive continuous improvement within the system. 
•    Communicate results to key stakeholders, prompt issue resolution.
•    Follow-up on requests made by key stakeholders regarding information or documentation needed from the franchisee to address key compliance issues. 
•    Document interactions with franchisees (phone calls, general correspondence, trip reports etc)

Qualifications

•    BS and/or MS degree in food science, microbiology, agricultural science, chemistry or related field required
•    Minimum 5 years food safety/food quality experience 
•    Relevant experience in public health preferred, such as Certified Food Safety professional (CPFS) or Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS)
•    Experience auditing against HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) certification and Good Manufacturing Practices in the manufacturing, retail and food service space.
•    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse group of people
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills with emphasis on team development and leadership. Ability to coach.  Provide direction to suppliers and recommendations to internal teams
•    Proven ability to identify opportunities, set goals, work independently, and be self-motivated 
•    Strategic thinker
•    Problem solving and decision-making skills
•    Project management skills including the ability to prioritize and organize, create action assignments, verify completion of tasks and follow up
•    Travel up to 35%
•    Strong analytical and computer skills including current MS Office programs
