Driver Development Program - CDL Training
Domino’s started back in 1960 as a single-store location in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Over the years, we expanded to three stores, and thus came the three dots on our logo. The original plan was to keep adding dots for every store, and at over 16,300 stores worldwide (6,000 in the U.S.) you can probably figure out why that original plan didn’t work.
You might be thinking, “Wow, how does Domino’s get food to 16,300 stores?” Well, that’s where you come in. We have 17 food supply and dough manufacturing centers in the U.S., and seven more across Canada, Hawaii and Alaska. They provide fresh dough, equipment and supplies to franchise and company-owned Domino’s stores in the U.S. and Canada. In 2017 alone, these centers made 650,000 deliveries.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
DURING THE DRIVER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
- Earn while you learn - Company paid training and paid tuition with a Domino’s partnered CDL school to earn your CDL with Air Brakes. (Current Domino’s Team Members)
- Learn our business – With a CDL, partner up with one of our Driver Trainers and gain experience while learning what it means to be a safe, professional driver with Domino’s while getting paid. (Current Domino’s Team Members with CDL License and prospective Domino’s Team Members who hold a current CDL license)
- Be part of the Team – At Domino’s, during our training, you will learn what an important role you play on the team. We supply all Domino’s pizza stores with products to keep our stores fresh and stocked for our customers!
AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE DRIVER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
(70%) Drive, Deliver, and Unload Product
- Safely drive an assigned truck safely on designated route(s) to deliver the product to Domino's Pizza stores; may be required to run routes as part of a team or as a single driver. Some overnight stays may be required.
- Safely deliver the product by sliding dough trays and product from trailer floor to side lift gate/rear lift gate and ramp to dollies/carts.
- Verify dough, store cooler, and trailer temperatures at each stop, and accuracy of delivery
- Safely load product onto a dolly and unload product at each customer location. Rotate stock in cooler, then move delivered product into cooler
- Pick up damaged and empty tray containers/carts and deliver to Supply Chain Center.
- Safely Reposition and secure remaining product/tray containers/carts in the trailer after each delivery.
- Listen to and timely resolve customer service complaints
- Required to always wear and follow Domino’s Pizza uniform standards while working
- Attend scheduled safety, team meetings, and training sessions
- Follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures and work in a safe manner
(30%) Complete Necessary Paperwork
- Responsible for verifying and securing load prior to dispatch
- Ensure you have the required safety equipment before dispatch
- Perform pre-and post-trip safety vehicle inspections at every stop – beginning and end of each trip
- Verify log of driving activities within ten days
- Complete all safety tests timely
- Comply with DOT log regulations by using an onboard computer system
- Accountable for the vehicle and product
- Complete paperwork (DVIR, Trip Sheet, Load Assessment Forms) per DOT and Company policies and procedures
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Meet the Domino’s Pizza Commercial Driver Accident and Moving Violation Standards
- Clean MVR with no alcohol or controlled substance-related convictions within seven years of application
- No preventable, minor, or major accidents in the past year with CDL license or regular license
- Pass DOT physical, substance screen, and background check
INTERNAL (CURRENT SUPPLY CHAIN CENTER EMPLOYEE)
- Obtain a valid CDL Class A or Class B license through Domino’s DDP from a Domino’s selected driver training school
- Employed with Domino’s for a minimum of 60 Days in the Supply Chain and have no corrective actions (i.e., verbal, written, or final/suspension).
- In good standing
- Submit internal driver-in-training application
- Recommendation from current Leadership
- Hold a valid CDL Class A or Class B license from a licensed driver training school.
- Have a letter of reference from a previous employer or CDL school
- Must maintain a DOT Med Cert
- Must always meet the defined MVR standards to remain qualified to drive company commercial motor vehicle
- Must successfully pass a background check every third year on your anniversary date
- Must be able to work around yeast and flour
- Apply to an open role at the Supply Chain Center (non-driver)
- After a minimum of 60 days, you will be eligible to apply for the Driver Development Program candidate as an internal team member
- Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time, climb stairs, and lift to 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. on occasion, perform heavy pushing/pulling of product, work in refrigerated conditions [33-38 degrees], outdoor weather [rain, sleet, heat, snow, etc.], and work in environment with exposure to loud machinery, when necessary.
